Suvarnabhumi Airport or (New) Bangkok International Airport as it’s commonly known, is one of two international airports serving Bangkok, Thailand. The other is is DMK Don Mueang International Airport.

Suvarnabhumi was officially opened for limited domestic flights on  15 September 2006, and opened for most domestic and all international flights on the 28 September 2006.

The airport is currently the main hub for Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways and Orient Thai Airlines. It moreover serves as regional gateway and connecting lessening for various foreign carriers.

The airfield is located in Racha Thewa in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan, roughly 25 kilometres (16 mi) east of downtown Bangkok.

Suvarnabhumi is the sixteenth busiest airstrip in the world, sixth busiest airdrome in Asia, and the busiest in the country, having handled 53 million passengers in 2012 and is furthermore a major  cargo hub, taking into account a figure of 96 airlines. On social networks, Suvarnabhumi is the world's most liked place where Instagram photographs were taken in 2012.
